Margaret Thatcher en campagne et les médias britanniques (1979-1987)

Le Temps des médias n°7, hiver 2006-07, p.126-142

In achieving her three consecutive general election victories, Margaret Thatcher devised, with the collaboration of her advisers, an effective communication strategy. Determined and politically committed, she constantly sought to improve and perfect her appearance and elocution in order to offer British voters a resolute but reassuring image which would enhance her credibility in the broadcast media. While her relations with the independent-minded BBC were frequently troubled, the “Iron Lady†maintained a symbiotic relationship with the sections of the press, notably those controlled by Rupert Murdoch, which supported her policies and politics.
