The analysis of the language used to describe sexuality in Jeune & Jolie over a twenty year period reveals its political potential. Rarely does it provide directions for sexual pleasure ; rather, the representation manifest the issues of social relations (gender, class, generations, ethnicity). While the discourse changes (the media coverage of HIV is an historic turning point), gender injunctions are repeated : sexuality for women is necessarily considered in a romantic and conjugal context, sexual availability does not equate an autonomous, asserted appetence, and the first sexual experience is stamped with drama.
