« Montrez ce sexe que l’on ne saurait voir » : le cinéma français à l’épreuve du sexe (1992-2002)
Le Temps des médias n°1, automne 2003, p.95-107.Since the 1990’s, movies dare bring into an esthetical field what had belonged, up until then, exclusively to a pornographic field, as do some fiction authors, the most representative of them today being Michel Houellebecq. The shifting limits between eroticism and pornography became even more flimsy and have noticeably moved toward the “see everything, show everything, dare anything”. But it’s clear that the artistic work of the movie-maker is systematically overran by the societal aspect inducted by the movie. The tree-fold dimension of the movie, juridical, esthetical, and ethical, is thus questioned in so-called “traditional” movies by censorship. Blandine Kriegel’s report, handed to the Ministry of Culture in November 2002, is a clear testimony of political interrogations on subjects that seem to call for regulation.
