The Impossible Independence of Independent Turkmenistan Television
Le Temps des médias n°13, Hiver 2009-2010, p. 86-104.Turkmenistan is a Central-Asian dictatorship in which there is strictly no freedom of the press. This article studies evolution of its national television since the country’s independence - the control and censorship over the medium, its use by the state, its programming and its role in the bulding of the power in place - under the presidency of Niyazov (1991-2006) and Berdymukhamedov (since 2007).
