Since the mid eighties, television channels have become the main actors of the movie economy, both as a source of funding and of revenue ; this helps explain the ambivalent relationship between the two poles. Cinema movies provide attractive programming, offered extensively by most television channels and thus obtain satisfactory audience ratings and symbolic value appeal. But these audience figures are gradually declining and the television channels have had to modify their programming policies as well as the funding of cinema movies.
