As most people believed growth and progress would be endless, few scientists, mostly Anglo-Saxons, published documented essays warning humanity against its Promethean ambition. Did they preach in the wilderness ? This article examines how French media relayed their concerns, a prism to analyze the way environmental issues interfered in the public arena.
