This paper focuses on the French Regional Daily Press, which emerged at the end of the 19th century and still dominates the local news sector. It questions the interactions between local actors and a regional newspaper in the making of news. Which actors were involved, through which socio-technical devices, in which socio-economic configurations and with what results? Nowadays research show that non-professionals are important actors in the making of news. What was the situation at the end of the 19th century in the French regional press?
