Le Temps des médias n°1, automne 2003, p.162-173.Media studies have to take into account the contributions of USA gender history research. It has been established that men dominate the production of news and information and the medias industries. However women are large-scale consumers of the media. To explore this apparent contradiction it is necessary to re-examine the history of press and the place of women as target-markets for advertisers.
