Le Temps des médias n°10, printemps 2008, p.156-169The first two American TV dramas portraying the president of the United States appeared at the turn of the 21st century : The West Wing and 24 Hours both focus on complementary aspects of the presidential function. The specific form of a TV drama makes the Presidential figure simultaneously close to the audience (by its weekly airings) and complex (hence more “human†) thanks to its continuing, long-term narrative.
