Le Temps des médias n°11, hiver 2008/2009, p. 51-71.The two chief German satirical periodicals from the Belle Epoque, Jugend and Simplicissimus, readily published articles and cartoons by French authors, whose social and political criticism was greatly valued. While the lifestyle as well as the cultural and political landscapes of France made regular appearances within their pages, appreciation for the French influence was hardly enraptured francophilia, and the congeniality, on occasions, showed to be one-sided.
