The word itself, and wide range of practices and representations have marked Greek and Roman civilizations and Modern Europe after the medieval interlude. Depending on the period under review and the status of its practitioners, « pornography » highlights both the artistic nude as well as the explicit representation of a sexual act. « Pornography » is a war zone, examined here from a cultural approach to history.
