Le Temps des médias n°11, hiver 2008/2009, p. 98-109.At the end of the 1920’s, Anglo-Saxon press photography agencies dethrone, within but a few years, the French agencies that reigned unrivaled since the beginning of the century. This primarily economic success also brought about a renewal in daily newspaper iconography, through the mediation role played by agencies between two modes of journalistic expression, documentary illustration and iconographic news reporting.
