Dépêches de campagne : ce que l’AFP fait pendant (/à ) une élection

Le Temps des médias n°7, hiver 2006-07, p.104-125

Many are the studies of media coverage of elections but rare are those of news agency coverage of elections. This is surprising given the central role played by these purveyors of news in the daily operations of most news-media, which is even more the case during election campaigns. It is imperative to identify the reciprocal influences between the media in devising the news agenda and in the hierarchy of election news topics. Hence the relevance of the study of AFP’s coverage of elections. We centre on the issue of AFP operations during an election, and on AFP’s contribution to the media coverage of elections. We focus on two recent elections in France the Parliamentary elections of May 25 and June 1 1997 and the Presidential election of 2002. DrapeauFrancais
